What is virtual care (or telehealth)?
Virtual care is also known as telehealth, or telemedicine. It's the use of technology to connect with a provider by video or phone using a computer or mobile device. Here are some basic definitions of the types of offerings that each of our virtual providers and/or vendors may have:
- Telemedicine: Talk to a board-certified doctor, nurse, dietitian, psychologist, or specialist by phone or video. You can often get help right away, even during evenings or weekends, without having to leave your home.
- Virtual coaching: Work with a trained health coach by phone, video, or messaging. They can teach you about health, give advice, and help you set healthy goals.
- Digital tools: Use apps or websites from virtual health care providers to access education, guided health programs, and tools that track progress.
How do I prepare for my virtual care appointment?
To prepare for your appointment, write down a list of questions and concerns you want to make sure to discuss with your provider. In addition, find a quiet, comfortable place to have your appointment and ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection or cell signal.

Are telehealth appointments secure?
Yes, virtual care platforms are designed to protect patient privacy. They are built to comply with health data protection regulations, such as HIPAA.
Can I get prescriptions through virtual care appointments?
Many telehealth providers are able to order prescriptions, if needed. Prescriptions can be sent to your preferred pharmacy or via home delivery , when available.
